What: Senate Rules Committee hearing regarding Senator
Ortiz y Pino's bill SB 718 (or committee substitute) which has VVPB
provisions. During or after the following press conferences, Mother's
Arms also encourages citizens to pick up lobbying kits for your
congresspeople and get trained on the issue by many experienced leaders in the election reform
movement.

United Voters of New Mexico Press Conference (Santa Fe)
What: United Voters of New Mexico will hold a Press Conference on Voter
Verifiable Paper Ballots, Automatic Recount Provisions, and the ongoing
lawsuit regarding the New Mexico 2004 election. Many voting rights groups will be there.

Sacramento Open Voting Meetup
What: Meet the president of the Open Voting Consortium and other people to discuss
the problems with the election process, especially with voting machines and tabulators.
Learn more about how open voting (open source code, printed voter verified paper ballots)
is a viable solution. Also, organize events to educate the local community about the need for
election reform and work to have input in Secretary of State and Voting System Panel decisions.
